I Specialize in One-on-One Tutoring - Year-round individualized instruction - One on one reading and writing  programs target your child's individual strengths and needs. After an initial evaluation,  I tailor each student's learning experience to specifically address areas of need and promote certain skills or explore your child's particular interests.

Summer Workshops - Perfect for "brushing up" skills or preparing for the rigors of middle or high school.
Introduction to Expository Writing for Middle School - Perfect for incoming 6th graders who are transitioning between narrative writing skills and expository composition.  This class will cover the writing process as it applies to the five-paragraph essay format.  Students will brainstorm, outline, draft and revise an expository essay and will be provided with materials which will support the standards and benchmarks for 6th grade language arts.

Middle School Essay Workshop - Designed for incoming 7th and 8th grade students with a focus on improving expository writing skills.  We will review the basic 5-paragraph essay format, compare and contrast various types of essays, and focus on writing techniques aimed at improving students' writing fluency.  Students will brainstorm, draft and revise an expository essay, write an "on demand" expository composition, and receive materials which support the standards and benchmarks for 7th or 8th grade language arts.

On the "Write" Track for High School Workshop - A workshop for incoming freshmen, aimed at preparing students for the increased demands of high school writing assignments.  We will review the various essay formats taught in middle school, and launch into methods which will enable students to approach high school assignments with confidence.  Students will research,  brainstorm, draft and revise a response to literature-type essay, write an "on demand" expository composition and be provided with materials which support the 9th grade standards and benchmarks for language arts.

Creative Writing For Fun - A foray into various forms of poetry and prose for 4th and 5th grade students who want to stretch their writing wings before summer.  Using their own experiences as inspiration, students will create a collection of five original pieces of writing, including a personal narrative and various forms of poetry.

Buddy Sessions Available - Sign your child up for a writing session with a buddy for a shared learning experience.  The buddies must be in the same grade, preferably working on similar types of writing assignments in order to get the most out of this option.  A wonderful option for parents on a budget, and students who enjoy working with their peers.
